Karina Cancino from INEN in Lima recently spent a month undertaking training at UPS, Toulouse. During her secondment, she learnt about the procedures for single cell RNA sequencing, and analysis of metabolomic data in order to be able to apply them to liver cancer research at the INEN Cancer Research Biobank. She spent the first 2 weeks training in single cell RNA sequencing, learning about sample preparation, flow cytometry, and sequencing. For the last 2 weeks, she studied metabolomic analysis under the supervision of Guillaume Marti (leader of WP2), learning about mass spectrometry data acquisition, analytic procedures and software. So, it was a busy month of training and an excellent learning opportunity, as well as exchange of ideas with colleagues in France. Karina has now returned to Peru, ready to apply some of these techniques in the early diagnosis of liver cancer!
